The Club was founded in October 1997 when a group of like-minded wood turners got together for the first time. Many members have been active wood turners for a lot longer.

The Club meetings and Workshops are held at Padworth Village Hall, Padworth, Reading, RG7 4HY, on the second Tuesday of each month for demonstrations and Members’ evenings. In addition, Workshops are held at the same venue on the fourth Saturday of each month 10.00am – 1.00pm.

Club evenings start at 7.30pm and finish about 10.00pm. Most meetings feature a demonstration about turning by an invited guest or club member. We also have club nights, with a number of lathes being operated by members demonstrating various techniques and projects.

The Saturday workshop is held on the fourth Saturday of the month. These workshops are for members to meet, discuss, and practice their turning techniques in an informal atmosphere. Refreshments are served mid afternoon. The current year’s program of events is published on the diary page of this website.

The Club has the following aims:

    • To promote and nurture the art of woodturning in all its aspects.
    • To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and techniques
    • To organise regular meetings, discussions, lectures, workshops, and demonstrations
    • To organise regular competitions and exhibitions of members’ work
The Club is administered by a committee, which meets every month and sets the monthly competition, decides on the demonstrators for the following year, arranges the logistics of the various events, takes care of domestic matters, authorises purchases and administers the Club’s funds.

We are a friendly bunch, so come along to a club meeting or meet us at one of our many exhibitions throughout the summer. The club Chairman for many years was Ken Saxton: Ken has now taken up the position of Honorary Life President.

Visitors and new members are welcome!
